LDP3 Topic Paper - Nature and Biodiversity π³ π¦π¦πΏππ«
East Ayrshire Council is preparing its third Local Development Plan, LDP3. The first formal stage of LDP3 will be the production of an Evidence Report.
National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) puts the twin global climate and nature crisis at the heart of its vision. The Scottish Biodiversity Strategy (2023) sets targets for halting biodiversity loss by 2030 and restoring and regenerating biodiversity by 2045. The LDP has an important role to play in creating nature positive places that are designed to reduce emissions whilst protecting and restoring the environment.
Topic Paper
To inform the Evidence Report for LDP3 we will be publishing a series of topic papers, exploring in detail the evidence we and others hold across the many themes that LDP3 will address. We have now published a Topic Paper on ‘Nature and Biodiversity’.
The scope of this Topic Paper is to set out evidence in relation to nature and biodiversity within East Ayrshire, our analysis of the evidence and our view on its implications for LDP3. The Topic Paper relates to NPF4 policies 1 and 3.
You can read the Topic Paper under Documents.
Other Topic Papers
This Topic Paper is part of a wider suite of papers, which will be released in groups until the Evidence Report is ready - you can read these other Topic Papers by clicking Related Projectson this page, or visiting the main page for Local Development Plan 3.

We welcome your comments on these topic papers - tell us what you think using our survey set out below.
The purpose of an Evidence Report is to establish a baseline of information required to assist the Planning Authority in producing a Local Development Plan. The Evidence Report supports the Council by clearly informing what to plan for before the Proposed Plan.
