LDP3 Topic Paper - Soils π€πͺ±ππ«
East Ayrshire Council is preparing its third Local Development Plan, LDP3. The first formal stage of LDP3 will be the production of an Evidence Report.
National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) puts the twin global climate and nature crisis at the heart of its vision. It seeks to protect carbon-rich soils, restore peatlands and minimise disturbance to soils from development. The State of Scotland's Soils Report (2011) provides a detailed overview of the loss of organic matter in soils, soil sealing and compaction, erosion, potential contamination alongside soil biodiversity. The Report identifies climate change, developmental pressures and transport as the primary threats to soil quality and condition.
Our Soils Topic Paper is part of a wider suite of papers, which will be released in groups until the Evidence Report is ready. You can read other relevant Topic Papers by clicking Related Projects, or by visiting the main page for Local Development Plan 3.
