Potential future of train station entrance

It's now over 60 years since Kilmarnock last had a Masterplan in place - the vision of Percy Johnson-Marshall - which brought about the redevelopment of major parts of the town. Although his vision was never fully realised, his legacy and ideas shaped the way the town is today.

Changing habits and ways of working however, mean that we now use our town centres differently, so to reflect this, we are embarking on a new Masterplan.

Masterplanning is a process which brings together people, organisations and investors to look at what's best for a community. It takes a long hard look at what's already there, what's possible, and what we can aspire to for the future.

Following extensive partnership working and consultation with the people who live in, work in, and visit the town centre, we're presenting this vision of what could be through a Masterplan that is both possible and achievable to reinvigorate Kilmarnock's town centre, with all the benefits it will bring to the local economy, and the prosperity and wellbeing of everyone who uses the area.

Our Masterplanning team has been working hard, consulting with other agencies, organisations and community groups to bring together these proposals as the start of a definitive plan. We're now seeking the views of all concerned to make sure we're taking into consideration everything we can to help make this plan as inclusive and far reaching as possible.

That's why we would appreciate a little bit of your time to look at our ideas as laid out in our online Masterplan document, and then to give us your comments. They'll all be looked at, and your views will be listened to, as we continue on our journey towards a revitalised Kilmarnock.
