Locality planning

Locality planning in East Ayrshire; where health and social care planning and community engagement come together.

Locality planning has two main functions:

  • to tackle inequalities
  • to enable communities to participate in decision making at a neighbourhood level to plan and deliver better services to improve local health and wellbeing

Our locality planning groups are based on the three East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership boundaries:

  • Northern locality planning groups: Annick and Irvine Valley
  • Kilmarnock locality planning groups: including Crosshouse and Hurlford
  • Southern locality planning groups: Ballochmyle, Cumnock and New Cumnock, and Doon Valley

The groups meet on a quarterly basis to gather the views of local people for services within their locality area. Each group develops and publishes a locality plan alongside Locality Planning Groups that sets out the priorities, needs and assets of the communities within the locality and the actions to be taken forward.

How to get involved

In East Ayrshire, we're passionate about hearing the views of the people accessing our services. One of the ways in which we do this is by hosting local conversations.

Local Conversations are annual community discussion events open to all East Ayrshire residents who want to have their say and help improve local health and social care services.

Local Conversations give you an opportunity to tell us what you think. Good or bad, we want to hear your feedback and use it to shape the future.

During each Local Conversation event there will be market stalls providing practical, on the spot resources and advice, interactive workshops and updates from our services.

These events are a great chance to make your voice heard while also meeting new people and groups in your community and hearing the views of others who live and work in East Ayrshire.

This time we are holding three Local Conversations in October 2025, held in each locality area across East Ayrshire. You can come to any of these events, not just the one in your own locality area.

As well as inviting you to have your say on health and social care services, we’ll also be focusing on updating you on the new locality planning arrangements.

Local Conversations

The sessions due to take place in October 2025 have been cancelled. If you wish further information please contact Lorna McIlreavy, Partnership Engagement Officer on Lorna.McIlreavy@east-ayrshire.gov.uk or 07826 914 538.
