We are starting to prepare a new Local Development Plan for East Ayrshire and we want you to get involved!

From March 2025 until February 2026, an online survey ran inviting residents and communities to 'tell us about their place.' Over 300 people completed the survey online and this was supplemented by carrying out in-person surveys at a number of community events around East Ayrshire. We also visited a number of schools to get the thoughts and views of our young people.

We have now closed the survey to allow us to analyse the feedback we have received. However, if you would still like to get involved or give us your views, please get in touch with us at localdevelopmentplans@east-ayrshire.gov.uk or use the 'Ask us a question' function. We will be happy to hear from you!

Other Evidence Report engagement:

Our online tools are just one way for us to collect your views on East Ayrshire's places. There are other opportunities for you to share your thoughts with us:

  • In-person engagement events: Council planning staff attended a number of local events over 2025, to gather views which will inform our LDP3 Evidence Report. A list of these events is available to view here. If you would like us to attend any of your community events or meetings, please do get in touch.
  • Topic papers: We have published several topic papers on themes such as renewable energy and the historic environment and will be publishing more over the coming months. The topic papers set out the evidence that we will use as background to develop LDP3. We are inviting views and feedback on the evidence presented and whether we have missed anything.

Thank you for your question.  Our work on Local Development Plan 3 will involve reviewing all site allocations and all areas of safeguarded open space.  As part of this work, in 2026 we will hold a 'Call for ideas' consultation, which gives anyone the opportunity to suggest new site allocation or suggest site allocations be removed.  This would allow you to suggest a change to the land neighbouring your house.  I would suggest you sign up for our LDP3 stayconnected bulletins (see link at the bottom of the page) and that way you will be directly notified of all consultations relating to LDP3 and will be able to let us know your views.

Has the Call for sites in East Lothian concluded in preparation of the new local development plan?

    Hi there.

I am not sure where East Lothian are in their LDP process.  In East Ayrshire, we have not yet carried out a call for sites. We anticipate that this will take place in Spring next year, as part of a wider 'Call for ideas' engagement exercise.

More information on our timetabling can be found in the latest Development Plan Scheme, which you can view here - East Ayrshire Local Development Plan.

    Thanks,

    Development Planning team

We are not aware of the detail of the area you are concerned about and it sounds like it is outwith the scope of our work on the Local Development Plan,  However, if you want to email us details, we can certainly look into it for you with the relevant departments - localdevelopmentpans@east-ayrshire.gov.uk
