Infinity Loop
What is the Infinity Loop?
Kilmarnock Infinity Loop is one of our Kilmarnock Masterplan projects. It aims to make significant improvements to the active travel infrastructure and around Kilmarnock connecting people and places to encourage healthy and safe activity and make navigating the town safer and easier for all.
By creating a vibrant, safe and attractive network for off road travel, the Infinity Loop presents an opportunity for investment in the town centre, connecting residential, leisure, business and retail areas with enjoyable means of passage in between.
Working together
In keeping with our tradition of partnership working and community led regeneration, the Infinity Loop brings together East Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire 360 (formerly East Ayrshire Leisure) and Ayrshire Roads Alliance. The project will bring together public investment to support private investment, leading to economic growth and a greater quality of life for the benefit of those in and around Kilmarnock.
What's happening?
The plans include changes to the streetscape, making it easier to access for walking, wheeling and cycling. Public realm improvements, such as seating areas, landscaping and bike shelters and repair stations, together with art installations and meeting spaces will make the area more attractive for travel, exercise and leisure.
The project in currently progressing with detailed technical plans being prepared. They will be shared in a public consultation in October to allow public, partner organisations, and businesses to comment.
How is it being funded?
Funding is being supported by Transport Scotland through Sustrans' Places for Everyone programme, with an aim to create safer, healthier and more attractive places through active travel.
