What is the Local Housing Strategy for?

Our Local Housing Strategy (LHS) will set out how East Ayrshire Council and our partners plan to address the housing and housing related opportunities and challenges over the five-year period from 2025 to 2030.

This new plan will build on the significant progress made on the issues identified in the Local Housing Strategy 2019 to 2024, and it will address newly arising housing matters, particularly in response to the publication of Housing to 2040 and the new Housing Scotland Bill.

We believe that good housing can help our community to tackle attainment, reduce inequalities, create sustainable communities, and help us all regenerate the places in which we live. The LHS is key in informing housing investment and service delivery and to making sure everyone has a home which meets their needs.

Why should I get involved?

Community Engagement is an important part of the LHS process.

This is a chance to shape East Ayrshire’s future, for yourself and future generations. We want local residents to be able to shape the Strategy so it reflects your priorities.

How can I get involved?

We are currently running an online survey to gather feedback on the draft LHS 2025 - 30. A link to this can be found below. The survey will close on 1 August 2025.

Alternatively if you would like to contact the Housing Policy and Strategy Team regarding the development of the strategy, please:
