Community Councils are the most local tier of statutory representation in Scotland. Every local authority is required by the Scottish Government to have a Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, which sets out how Community Councils are formed, how they operate, and how elections are run.
We are now carrying out a full review of our Scheme to ensure it remains up‑to‑date, transparent, and fit for purpose. This review is an opportunity for residents, community groups, and existing Community Councils to help shape how local democracy works in our area.
