What is Community Planning?
Community planning is about how public bodies work together, and with local communities, to design and deliver better services that make a real difference to people's lives.
CPPs are responsible for producing two types of plans to describe their local priorities and planned improvements:
Our Local Outcomes Improvement Plan can be found on the community planning website.
Our Community Action Plans can be found on the East Ayrshire Council website.
What is the Community Planning Partnership (CPP)?
The CPP is a group made up of councillors, leaders from the public organisations mentioned in ‘What is Community Planning’, and representatives from the community and voluntary sectors.
The CPP sets priorities to improve things for local people, ensures services are working well, and makes sure plans are delivered effectively. It is led by the CPP Board – you can find CPP Board agendas and papers on the Committee pages of the East Ayrshire Council website.
Who are our Community Planning partners?
We have representation from many partners within our Community Planning Partnership. These partners include:
What is the role of the Executive Officers’ Group (EOG)?
The EOG is made up of senior staff from partner organisations. They focus on putting the Community Plan into action, managing projects, and checking progress to make sure goals are met.
What are Community Action Plans?
Community Action Plans are created by and for local residents. These plans focus on what is most important to each community and outline steps to achieve their goals.
Community Action Plans can be found on the East Ayrshire Council website.
How can communities have a say in public services?
Use our ‘Your Community, Your Voice’ online forum to let us know what is important to you and what we should be doing to make things better in your local area.
The Community is represented on the CPP Board by five local Councillors and up to four community representatives. Our community representatives come from local community councils and community led action plan steering groups.
The Third Sector Interface also represent community and voluntary sector organisations.
The Community Empowerment Act also allows community groups to make Participation Requests, which let them influence how services are planned and delivered, if they do not feel that they are being included in local decision making. Only community-led organisations (not individuals) can submit these requests.
How can young people get involved in community planning?
Using the online forum, young people are encouraged to share their ideas and take part in shaping East Ayrshire’s future. We also link directly with the Children and Young People’s Cabinet, which formally represents the views of local young people.
You can watch a video on this topic: Young People Informing and Influencing Community Planning in East Ayrshire.
If you have any ideas about how we could get more young people involved in community planning, please let us know!
