LDP3 Topic Paper – Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation and Flooding
This Topic Paper sets out and analyses evidence pertaining to Climate Change and Flooding to support the forthcoming draft Local Development Plan 3’s evidence report.
The scope of the topic paper is to consider how LDP3 can respond to the climate emergency, and implicit issues it brings with regard to flooding, in order to establish the spatial implications for the plan, and its spatial strategy.
In doing so, the topic paper assesses the spatial implications of National Policy Framework 4 (NPF4) policies 2 (Climate mitigation and adaptation) and 22 (Flood Risk and water management) which have the following principles:
“4: To encourage, promote and facilitate development that minimises emissions and adapts to the current and future impacts of climate change.”
“22: To strengthen resilience to flood risk by promoting avoidance as a first principle and reducing the vulnerability of existing and future development to flooding."
The topic paper can be viewed within the documents section (to the right of this text).
The topic paper is part of a wider suite of papers, which will be released in groups until the Evidence Report is ready - other relevant Topic Papers can be viewed by clicking Related Projects on this page, or navigating via the main page for Local Development Plan 3.
