Whole Family Wellbeing Fund (WFWF)

The WFWF aims to transform the way family support is delivered by giving families seamless and holistic support wrapped around their individual needs.

This funding should be used to enable the system changes required to shift investment towards early intervention and prevention activities, to make sure families can access support before they reach crisis point.

We anticipate allocating up to £1 million of funding. The funding can be allocated for either one or two years, depending on the specifics of your application.

There is a minimum grant amount of £5,000, there is no maximum limit.

When you apply, please outline your needs clearly in your proposals so we can make sure that the funding duration aligns with both your project goals and the aims of WFWF as noted in the guidance document.

  • The Scottish Government’s Programme for Government 2021-2022 committed to investing £500m of Whole Family Wellbeing Fund (WFWF), over the lifetime of the Parliament, to support the development of holistic whole family support services. It also set out the ambition that by 2030, at least 5% of community-based health and social care spend should be allocated towards preventative whole family support measures.

Since 2022/23, the Scottish Government has provided £32m on an annual basis to Children’s Services Planning Partnerships (CSPPs) to build local capacity for transformational whole system change and to scale up and drive the delivery of holistic whole family support services. In February 2025, it was confirmed by the First Minister that services providing local support for families would receive additional funding in the Scottish Budget. Following an agreement with COSLA, the share of WFWF provided to CSPPs increased from £32m to £38m in 2025/26 and will remain at that level the following year.

Collaboratively services will Get It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) by ensuring children and families get the right support, by the right people at the right time.  This significant investment in Whole Family Wellbeing Funding (WFWF) is a key element of how we will collectively #KeepthePromise for care experienced children and all children and young people across East Ayrshire.
